We fell in love with Tenerife for it’s beautiful and incredibly varied hiking. Some of our favorites include:
This is a pleasant circular walk which is a good introduction to Tenerife’s volcanic landscape, as you pass through various craters and lava flows. It takes approximately 2 hours and offers spectacular views all the way to La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palama
This 4.5 hour hike starts in Vilaflor and winds through a tall pine forest and past imposing towers of pumice stone.
Los Silos to Erjos
This is not for the faint of heart or weak kneed hikers among us. But it is a spectacular 5.15 hour hike! You climb nearly 1000m up old caminos and forest trails overlooking some of the most unspoiled parts of the island. Beautiful views down the valley towards the north of the island.
The Rother Walking Guide for Tenerife (written by Klaus and Annette Wolfsperger) provides details about ‘the finest walks on the coast and in the mountains’ and is well worth purchasing if you plan to do any hiking during your holiday.
