Activities
Tenerife is one of those special places with so much variety you’ll always be able to find something of interest to fill each and every day of your vacation or you can simply enjoy the sunshine without doing anything at all.
Hiking
Montana Samara
This is a pleasant circular walk which is a good introduction to Tenerife’s volcanic landscape, as you pass through various craters and lava flows. It takes approximately 2 hours and offers spectacular views all the way to La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma.
Paisaje Lunar
This 4.5 hour hike that starts close to Vilaflor and winds through a tall pine forest and past imposing towers of pumice stone.
Los Silos to Erjos
This is not for the faint of heart or weak kneed hikers among us. But it is a spectacular 5.15 hour hike! You climb nearly 1000m up old caminos and forest trails overlooking some of the most unspoiled parts of the island. Beautiful views down the valley towards the north of the island.
The Rother Walking Guide for Tenerife (written by Klaus and Annette Wolfsperger) provides details about ‘the finest walks on the coast and in the mountains’ and is well worth purchasing if you plan to do any hiking during your holiday.
Golf
Tenerife is home to some wonderful golf courses:
Costa Adeje
Very popular is the Costa Adeje, a great championship course that is 5889m (from yellow) with Par 72. The big advantage: it is reachable from Casa Felix by car in 20 minutes.
Los Lagos
If you have less time or want to do something less challenging, you can play the smaller 9 hole golf course “Los Lagos”. It is 1865 m (from yellow) with Par 33.
Buenavista Golf Course
A trip to the north takes you to the Buenavista Golf Course. With spectacular view along the rugged North coast, this is not to be missed.
We have two full sets of golf clubs and equipment available for guests to borrow.
Massage
A number of professional health and wellness massages can be provided during your stay. For more information about prices and bookings, just ask us.
Beaches
You have your pick of great beaches on Tenerife. Some of our favorites include:
Alcala
We love the black lava beaches just northwest of Alcala, which are only a 20 minute drive from Casa Felix. The water is fresh and can be wavy here, but there are protected pools which offer a refreshing spot for cooling off from the sun. You can rent chairs and umbrellas here from the hotel. There’s a great path for walking or jogging which takes you past one of the hottest surfing spots on the island (Punta Blanca) and all the way to Playa de la Arena.
El Médano
El Médano is unsurpassed for windsurfing, kite-surfing and other awe inspiring feats on the water. There are plenty of restaurants and shops here, and you can rent chairs and umbrellas as well as gear for water sports. This beach is a 46 Km (36 min) minute drive from Casa Felix.
Las Vistas
If you like your beaches with long expanses of blonde sand and guaranteed safe swimming, check out Las Vistas. It’s in the Los Cristianos area, so be warned: it will be crowded. There are plenty of restaurants and shops here, and you can rent chairs and umbrellas. This beach is a 19km (24 min) drive from Casa Felix.
Here is a useful website for all you beach lovers that shows the top 10 beaches in Tenerife.
Cultural Activities
Tenerife is an island of festivals. Tenerife hosts one of the world’s largest carnivals and the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is working to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the list of government the list of government approved public holidays and local fiestas and the go-to site Wikipedia for details on the Carnival and more!
We think that you will really enjoy the cultural life in the capital city, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as we do:
Performance
The Auditorio de Tenerife is as impressive for its architecture as its cultural programmes which include jazz, orchestra, ballet, and more!
